New QsfQ recordings/"...he drank the creek water every morning in the sun..."

This weekend I realized that a couple of songs I recorded (with Byron and our friend Eric about 2 months ago) never really saw the light of day. It took a few weeks for them to be uploaded and I'd kinda forgotten about them and never told anyone. (I didn't put them online.)

I played them for some friends on Saturday afternoon and thought it a shame that very few people have heard these two songs.

The first (entitled, "Decent from space") is a song we made 'on-the-fly' it's mostly just madness for the sake of a good time on a Saturday afternoon. All the while featuring the return of our friend, the insane space traveler, "Tom" with his good friend, "T'om" along for the ride to make waves in the sonic specgnoDOME. (These are mostly inside references/jokes with myself. Indeed. But some of you may remember that song "Tom... is that you... over there... in the dark, Tom?" from our QsfQ myspace page a year or more ago.) Basically, this song is just long and trippy and fun. It might amuse you (if you listen to what we're blabbering on about...)

The second one is called, "Danny Elfman". Some of you have probably heard us play this song live. It's an actual, "song", after all. If you saw the QsfQ show at Bar Deluxxxe (which Byron and I played alone), then you heard it. &tc.

We're planning on playing that one first on February 2nd... to start the set off with a good old fashioned !BANG. It can get pretty crazy and explosive so I'm quite looking forward to playing it for an audience with a full band.

Anyway... have a listen (if it suits ya, darlin')!

(Btw, the name of the band/page is, "Blame the Massless Particles" because that's the name of Eric's side project/band. An excuse to explore his inner psychonaut, if you will. Why not?)

For as different as the night turned out (well, than I'd expected it to, anyway), I really had a nice time on Saturday. Carphax Files and Domiana were both inspirational and awesome. And it was very nice to see friends and to talk some to them. (Wish I'd have done more of that.) I wasn't in the best of spirits that night (which was my own doing, mostly) but I was cheered in the presence of good people whom I love.

Wish you could've been there. (We'll kiss and make up, later.)

"hiatus" is a word I am fond of...

Yet, of "focus" I am more fond.

We will put on the performance I was planning on giving on Saturday for this show, mark my words:

(I may have finally learned the necessary lessons to sound like I want to sound at Area 51. 4th time was the charm.)

**** ****

I've decided to take a nice long, healthy break from full band performances after this show. If you want a hard hitting dose of what's come to be a QsfQ show, come out on February 2nd.

I have decided this will be the last big show for the better part of 2008. I just can't give the necessary attention to the other artistic parts of my life (part of which includes recording music) that need to be given when my attention is constantly diverted. This is me taking action to focus and get shit done. Too many loose ends and dreams unfulfilled. Planning upcoming shows takes a lot out of me. It requires my full attention. That said, I do see myself playing now and again after a few months break, to satisfy the cravings.

I'm not saying I won't perform now and again. But they'll be really spontaneous and low key. House shows, if anyone ever asks. Maybe coffee shops and misc street corners. Spontaneous stuff that may never be put on a flier or posted online. I'll play brand new songs (even newer than new); It'll probably only be me playing them. Sara may or may not be along for the ride. I seriously doubt if anyone else will be.

I'm not trying to be dramatic, I'm just letting you all know. We've been working really hard over the last few years to create a dynamic bigger than I could ever create by myself and I'm really proud to be a part of that. Saturday would've been super energetic and dynamic if the rest of the peeps could've heard a thing I was doing on the guitar. I couldn't even tell what I was doing. (Hopefully it was alright.)

It's been fun and it's been real; I need a break. Focus will see me bring many good things to fruition.

Come see us play on Feb 2nd! You won't be disappointed.
